London Regatta Centre is inviting applications for the following posts:
Disability Equal Opportunities Development Coach.
This post will involve coaching and overseeing the development of an Adaptive Rowing programme to provide inclusive rowing opportunities for disabled and non-disabled people across all levels of the performance spectrum.
The successful candidate will: have suitable ARA coaching qualifications and experience of working with athletes who have Physical, Sensory, Neuromuscular or Developmental impairments; be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the disability awareness issues relating to rowing; be required to produce a long term development plan; work with local and national charities to ensure that the programme is able to develop inclusive strategies which can be translated into mainstream practice; be required to further develop inclusive elements within the National Junior Rowing Programme, working alongside other coaches.
Part-time Rowing Instructors.
These posts will involve coaching children within the Amateur Rowing Association's National Junior Rowing Programme, encompassing 'Project Oarsome'. Successful candidates will have suitable ARA coaching qualifications and preferably, experience of working with children. They will be highly motivated and will work within the Centre's existing coaching team.

Important notice from
the ARA:
"The following advice has been received from the Ministry of Agriculture
and fisheries.
'Due to the current outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease people should avoid
travelling from and rowing on water in infected areas.'
The ARA supports this advice and asks all its clubs to consider whether or
not they should travel to events. We are in a rapidly changing situation
and will continue to advise members through
this site. For information on infected

[Having looked at the MAFF site, the infected areas are detailed as links
(including maps) from
http://www.maff.gov.uk/animalh/diseases/fmd/areas.htm,
and fortunately at present they don't appear to include many rowing areas.

With Reading Head having been cancelled, an alternative event was held at
London Docks on Saturday 24th February:
London Docklands Regatta Committee ran 2 x 3,000m timed head races at the
Royal Albert and Victoria Docks on Saturday for all disappointed Reading
Head crews. Price £30 per boat. Prizes for categories with more than
five entries. Boats went afloat at 12:00 noon and raced east to west, then
staying afloat, back to the start and did it again.
